A to Z Dermatology uses the latest technology when it comes to Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)/Photofacial treatments.
An IPL treatment is used to improve the appearance of sun damaged skin, age/sun spots, rosacea and broken capillaries. The light energy stimulates the production of collagen; and, as this new collagen forms, there is a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles and improvement in mild acne scarring. The skin becomes smoother and more even in tone. There is a high degree of patient satisfaction with an IPL/Photofacial treatment. An IPL can be used to treat the face, neck, chest, hands, back, arms and legs. Often, the IPL/Photofacial is combined with Botox injections Cosmetic or other corrective skincare to enhance the results of this treatment. There is little or no downtime with an IPL/Photofacial.
IPL Treatment Expectations
The area being treated is thoroughly cleansed. Thereafter, a topical numbing cream which is optional at an additional cost is applied to the area for 20 – 40 minutes. The numbing cream is then removed and a cool gel is applied. Pulses of light energy are delivered to the targeted area. Patients describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snap. Once the IPL/Photofacial treatment is completed, the gel is removed, and a moisturizer and sunscreen are applied. An IPL/Photofacial treatment takes 30 – 60 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the area being treated.
